Create Password Protected Folder (Folder-Lock)
Posted in Windows tips and Tricks By Rohit Sane

There are always some things which we don’t want others to see in our Computer, Example: private photos, porn films, secret documents etc. So we need to hide them. Just attributing the Folder which includes these Files as HIDDEN does not serve this purpose because these days every person knows to view Hidden files. So why not Password protect this Folder? We do get Folder Lock softwares for Download on Internet but they offer only trial versions for free. So, Today I will give a tutorial on Creating a Password Protected folder in Windows.

Just open Notepad and copy the following code given in Green colour in it.

cls
@ECHO OFF
title Folder Locker
if EXIST "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" goto UNLOCK
if NOT EXIST Locker goto MDLOCKER
:CONFIRM
echo Are you sure u want to Lock the folder(Y/N)
set/p "cho=>"
if %cho%==Y goto LOCK
if %cho%==y goto LOCK
if %cho%==n goto END
if %cho%==N goto END
echo Invalid choice.
goto CONFIRM
:LOCK
ren Locker "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
attrib +h +s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
echo Folder locked
goto End
:UNLOCK
echo Enter password to Unlock folder
set/p "pass=>"
if NOT %pass%==YOUR PASSWORD HERE goto FAIL
attrib -h -s "Control Panel.{21EC2020- 3AEA-1069- A2DD-08002B30309 D}"
ren "Control Panel.{21EC2020- 3AEA-1069- A2DD-08002B30309 D}" Locker
echo Folder Unlocked successfully
goto End
:FAIL
echo Invalid password
goto end
:MDLOCKER
md Locker
echo Locker created successfully
goto End
:End

Do not forget to change the “YOUR PASSWORD HERE” text by a strong and secure password which you want to set for your Locker.
Now save this file WHERE YOU WANT THE PASSWORD PROTECTED FOLDER as “locker.bat”. A folder named Locker will appear in the same directory. (Refresh if it does not appear)

Click on the locker.bat file and it will ask you for the password for your Locker (Not for the first time, Second time onwards) You need to give the same password which you gave while writing the BAT file in Notepad (Remember password is case sensitive) Now you can save any data in this Locker folder. After saving the data again click on the locker.bat file. It will ask you weather you want to lock this folder. Type y if you want to lock it or n if you don’t want to lock it.

You can use the locker.bat file to unlock this folder as explained above. Have fun locking your documents in your password protected folder. Ask your queries in Comments and Don’t forget to tell weather you liked this trick or no.

(Note: BAT files can be edited in Notepad (Different Notepad tricks) so any Computer savvy person might get to know your password through the locker.bat file. So it is advised that you HIDE the locker.bat file. You don’t need to hide the Locker folder because it is Hidden by Default)

How to Use Google Multiple Sign In

source: http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Google-Multiple-Sign-In

Google has a new feature that enables you to sign in to multiple accounts at the same time on the same browser. One of the benefits of this is that it allows you to read messages from several Gmail accounts just by opening up new tabs in the same browser.

[1]
Go to your Google Accounts page: https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount

[2]
Click your name or email address at the top of the page.

[3]
Select Add account from the drop-down menu.

[4]
On the page that opens, enter the email address and password for another account you wish to access, and click Sign in.

[5]
Switch between accounts

[6]
Note that your default account becomes the first account that you sign in to. This means that when you sign into non-Google products unable to support Multiple Accounts, that your sign-in will be done via your default account.

Restore disappeared file/folders in your USB drive

There is a virus that hides folders and files copied in USB drive(or other memory cards) and gives an impression that all file/folders were deleted accidentally. Visually those folder/files disappear but practically exist, but in a different state and occupy space in the drive/card as usual. I am sure most of you had experienced it sometime in recent past. Those folder/files cannot be restored just by setting the attribute as not hidden(-h). Recently I realized the reason, the virus not only sets the attributes of folder/files as hidden(+h) but also defines those as system(+s) file. Which means you can restore all those file/folders by reversing(-h -s) both the attributes. Applying the following DOS command it can be done,

attrib -h -s *.* /D /S

But before that you have go to DOS prompt. The prompt initially appears as below,

C:\Users\YourUserName>

or

C:\Windows>

Say your drive/card is shown as (H:) in the My Computer window, issue the following command,

C:\Windows>h:

The prompt will appear as below and any command issued will be applicable in the drive/card,

H:\>

Now issue the command I mentioned as below,

H:\>attrib -h -s *.* /D /S

The command will be executed then and required time of execution will depend upon the size/quality of your USB drive as well as number of file/folders in the drive. Once done the prompt will reappear as below,

H:\>

To know how attrib command works you can seek help as below,

H:\>attrib/?
Displays or changes file attributes.

ATTRIB [+R | -R] [+A | -A ] [+S | -S] [+H | -H] [+I | -I]
       [drive:][path][filename] [/S [/D] [/L]]

  +   Sets an attribute.
  –   Clears an attribute.
  R   Read-only file attribute.
  A   Archive file attribute.
  S   System file attribute.
  H   Hidden file attribute.
  I   Not content indexed file attribute.
  [drive:][path][filename]
      Specifies a file or files for attrib to process.
  /S  Processes matching files in the current folder
      and all subfolders.
  /D  Processes folders as well.
  /L  Work on the attributes of the Symbolic Link versus
      the target of the Symbolic Link
